PATRICK’S DAY SHOWDOWN: BOXING RETURNS TO THE ARMORY Professional boxing returns to the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany, NY on Friday, March 17th, when IBC Welterweight titlist Frank Houghtaling (19-9-5, 4 KOs), of Albany, faces former Canadian Welterweight Champion Hercules Kyevelos (22-2, 11 KOs), of Montreal, Canada in an eight-round fight presented by Pugnacious Promotions. Doors open at 6:00 pm for the St. Patrick’s Day event showcasing local fighters and Irish entertainment featuring the Farrell School of Irish Dance and an Irish harmony duo. F.I.S.T., the organization serving retired boxers founded by former heavyweight contender Gerry Cooney, will join Pugnacious Promotions at the event and receive a donation. Appearing on the card are Troy heavyweight Shannon Miller (12-1, 6 KOs), Albany welterweight Liz Mooney (3-2, 1 KO), junior welterweight Wayland Willingham (7-0, 4 KOs), a native of Albany, and Kingston middleweight Brandon Mitchem (22-4, 8 KOs). “I am pleased to have Frank Houghtaling in the feature fight on our first Armory card of 2006,” said promoter Lisa Elovich. “He headlined our first show in Saratoga and gave fans a thrilling performance. Hercules Kyevelos will be a tough fight, but Frank will be ready for him. This will surely be a fight to remember.” Tickets go on sale February 7th at the Armory box office, 518-694-7160, or through Ticketmaster by phone, 518-476-1000, any outlet or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
