RUSSELL JORDAN-ALPHONSO WILLIAMS FEATURE FIGHT AT THE
WASHINGTON AVENUE ARMORY NOV. 9TH

Albany, N.Y. October 23, 2007 – Two rising power-punchers, Russell "Spiderman" Jordan (13-4, 9 KOs) and Alphonso "Souljah" Williams (10-2, 8 KOs), will meet in an eight-round feature fight on the Veteran's Day weekend pro boxing card at Albany's Washington Avenue Armory on Friday, November 9th.

Jordan, Rochester, N.Y., is a dangerous slugger avoided by most fighters in his weight class.  The 6'2" southpaw has fought against opponents with a combined record of 90-20 in the past three years, including a disputed TKO loss to prospect Oscar Diaz (25-1, 12 KOs) on ESPN's "Friday Night Fights."  In his last fight in Niagara Falls August 31st, Jordan won a third-round TKO over Kaseem Wilson (9-1-1, 4 KOs).

Williams, Pittsburgh, Penn., has faced similar competition.  He challenged Maxell Taylor (13-2, 5 KOs) for the West Virginia State Light Middleweight title and fought veteran contender Jose Celaya (30-3, 16 KOs).  Williams last fought August 27th at the New Alhambra in Philadelphia, where he upset prospect Derrick Ennis (12-2, 9 KOs) by third-round TKO.

"Russell Jordan and Alphonso Williams are the type of fighters who come into people's hometowns and steal the win because of their toughness, speed and power," said Lisa Elovich, promoter of the event.  "I am excited to see this highly competitive bout on my card.  These are two prospects who are both hungry to win, which is sure to create a thrilling slugfest for the fans."

In another feature fight, local cruiserweights Chris Horn (2-0, 1 KO) and Jerry Speigel (3-1, 2 KOs) will face off in the "Capital Region Cruiserweight Title Challenge," a non-sanctioned, ceremonial competition to find the best local 190-lb boxer.  Exciting, young fighters from across the state compete on the undercard.

"Friday Night Fights" returns to the Armory, home of CBA's Albany Patroons, for the first time in 2007 after a successful run of shows in 2005-2006.  The event also will honor military service and veterans from throughout the Capital Region, acknowledging vets during the fights and offering group discount rates for local veteran's organizations.

Tickets are on sale at the Armory box office, 518-694-7160, or through Ticketmaster, 518-476-1000 or www.ticketmaster.com.  Ringside tickets are $75 and Reserved are $40, both on the floor.  General Admission open seating in the bleachers is $25 with a special youth price of $15 for kids under 12.  Contact Pugnacious Promotions, 518-326-9756 or www.pugnaciouspromotions.com, for more information.
