FARAGON-EDMUNDS IN SIX-ROUND LIGHT WELTERWEIGHT BATTLE OCTOBER 23rd

Troy, N.Y., October 8, 2009 – Light welterweight prospect Mike Faragon faces tough Philadelphia fighter Julias Edmunds in the six-round co-feature of Pugnacious Promotions’ "Friday Night Frights: Future Stars Pro-Am" at Hudson Valley Community College's McDonaugh Fieldhouse on Friday, October 23rd.

Faragon (8-0, 3 KOs), Guilderland, N.Y., was the region’s most decorated recent amateur, becoming a pro as the number one-ranked 141 lb boxer in the country. He won his last four fights impressively with three early KOs and unanimous decision over tough Puerto Rican Alberto Amaro (5-2, 3 KOs). Edmunds (5-5) is a Philadelphia fan favorite, fighting all but two of his bouts at the legendary Blue Horizon and facing a number of tough, young prospects.

"I am so fortunate to have Mike Faragon fight on my card for the third time this year," said Lisa Elovich, promoter of the event. "He is one of the best fighters to ever come out of this region and we expect to see great things from him. His opponent, who was recommended by Hall of Fame matchmaker, Russell Peltz, will be a step up in competition and a good litmus test for him right now."

Schenectady NYS correction officer Brian Miller (5-0-3, 2 KOs) and Albany rival Rafael Luna (4-3-1, 1 KO) will battle for the vacant NYS Lightweight Title in the card’s main event. Other professional bouts on the card feature former All-American athlete Shawn Miller (1-0, 1 KO), light heavyweight of Troy, and exciting female featherweight Jaci Trivilino (1-1-1), Plattsburgh.

Supporting USA Boxing, Olympic-style, three-round bouts will showcase the region's best young amateur talent, including Albany's Will Madera, Schenectady's Ray Velez, Troy’s Natasha Jefferson, Schoharie’s Sarah Kuhn and others.
