SPRINGTIME SPECTACLE: MILLER FACES ‘WILD, WILD’ WEST
 IN
HEAVYWEIGHT BRAWL MAY 19TH

Albany , N.Y. – Troy Heavyweight Shannon Miller (13-1, 7 KOs) takes another step toward a fight on the national stage when he faces Ralph “Wild, Wild” West (16-7-1, 13 KOs) in the headline fight of the next Albany pro boxing card presented by Pugnacious Promotions.

The bout will be featured at “Friday Night Fights: Springtime Spectacle,” on Friday, May 19th, at the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany , N.Y.   Lisa Elovich and Pugnacious Promotions’ Spring event will showcase local, up-and-coming fighters in challenging bouts and entertainment to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeast New York.

Miller, 6’ 1, 225 lbs, last fought on March 17th, winning by sixth-round TKO over David Chappell (7-5, 4 KOs).  In 2005, he faced Vinny Maddalone (25-3, 18 KOs ) in the fight ESPN.com boxing columnist Dan Rafael called "ESPN2's most dramatic fight and the best heavyweight bout of the year."

West, 6’3, 245, is a power-puncher who has faced a number of tough opponents in his 10-year professional career, including Oleg Maskaev, Derrick Jefferson and Alvin Manley.

“This is an important fight for Shannon ,” said promoter Lisa Elovich .  “Beating a fighter like West is the next step toward high profile fights, including the rematch with Vinny Maddalone and a challenge to NYS Heavyweight Champion Derrick Rossy.   Shannon is ready to step up and is training with a focus and intensity that will enable him to take it to the next level.”

Also appearing on the card are junior welterweight Wayland Willingham (8-0, 4 KOs), a native of Albany , and Kingston middleweight Brandon Mitchem (23-4, 8 KOs ).
