HEAVYWEIGHTS RETURN TO SPA CITY FOR FIGHTS DURING SARATOGA RACING SEASON

Saratoga Springs , NY – Pro boxing returns to the home of world-class thoroughbred racing when heavyweights collide on a summer card co-promoted by Lisa Elovich ’s Pugnacious Promotions and Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing at the Saratoga Springs City Center on Friday, August 18th.

“Fight of the Year” heavyweights from 2005’s summer show, Shannon Miller (14-1, 8 KOs) and Vinny Maddalone (26-3, 19 KOs), appear in separate feature fights.  In the headline, Maddalone faces the former NABO champion from Rochester , Jermell Barnes (17-12, 4 KOs ).  In the co-feature, Miller and Chicago ’s undefeated Malachy Farrell (14-0, 11 KOs ) face-off in a match-up of up-and-coming heavyweights.

Winners of the feature fights – held during the heart of the famed city’s horseracing season, one week prior to the 137th running of the Travers Stakes –  will move on to bigger opportunities in the wide-open heavyweight division.

“Both the headline and co-feature bouts are going to be exciting fights that will have the fans out of their seats,” said promoter Lisa Elovich , Pugnacious Promotions.  “We are thrilled to have four high-level heavyweights on the same card.”

“Star Boxing is very excited about returning to Saratoga Springs .  This yearly event has become a favorite on everyone's sports calendar. With one of the most exciting heavyweights in the world, Vinny Maddalone, on the card in addition to local favorite Shannon Miller putting it on the line against undefeated Irish slugger Malachy Farrell,  it is a night of boxing no sports fan should miss.”

Tickets are on sale at the Saratoga Springs City Center , 522 Broadway, on August 17th and 18th. For more information, call 518-584-0027.
