– Pro boxing returns to the home of world-class thoroughbred racing
when heavyweights collide on a summer card co-promoted by
Lisa Elovich
’s Pugnacious Promotions and Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing at the
Saratoga Springs
City
Center
on Friday, August 18th.
“Fight
of the Year” heavyweights from 2005’s summer show, Shannon Miller
(14-1, 8 KOs) and Vinny Maddalone (26-3, 19 KOs), appear in separate
feature fights. In the
headline, Maddalone faces the former NABO champion from
Rochester
, Jermell Barnes (17-12, 4
KOs
). In the co-feature, Miller
and
Chicago
’s undefeated Malachy Farrell (14-0, 11
KOs
) face-off in a match-up of up-and-coming heavyweights.
Winners
of the feature fights – held during the heart of the famed city’s
horseracing season, one week prior to the 137th running of the Travers
Stakes – will move on to
bigger opportunities in the wide-open heavyweight division.
